RIX Industries’ long-standing partnership with the U.S. Navy goes back over half a century. Whether managing hydraulics, controlling sea water, operating pneumatic tools, or ejecting weapons, RIX shipboard air systems are rugged and reliable, and have been protecting naval missions at sea with innovation that is unsurpassed.
The Navy has been—and continues to be—the primary purchaser of RIX compressors within the U.S. Department of Defense. With its recent multimillion-dollar Navy contract award for Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Weapon Systems Support (WSS), RIX is set to deliver 25 high-pressure air compressors for installation on Virginia-class submarines (also known as the SSN-774 class) over the next several years.
“This significant award demonstrates the unique relationship we’ve built with the U.S. Navy and the confidence they have in RIX Industries,” said Michael McNulty, Senior Director of Customer Support & Service, RIX Industries. “We are truly humbled and honored that our oil-free compression products have been selected for use aboard the most critical of our nation’s strategic assets, ensuring that our warfighters are ‘fit-to-fight’!”
Designed for a wide range of open-ocean and littoral missions, the Virginia class is the newest class of nuclear-powered fast attack submarines. These subs will replace older Los Angeles-class submarines, many of which have already been decommissioned.
