RIX Industries Supports b-Cubed Grant Program at Local Benicia High School

BENICIA, Calif., March 9, 2015 – RIX Industries proudly supported Benicia High School’s b-Cubed program at a check presentation held at Benicia High School. b-Cubed is a pilot grant program in association with Benicia Unified School District, Benicia Education Foundation, and local Benicia businesses with a goal to increase awareness and participation for innovative K-12 projects in the classroom. Benicia School District members and Benicia High School faculty members attended the check presentation along with two Benicia High School alumni who are now employees at RIX Industries. Other RIX employees attended the event as well.

“It’s an extraordinary privilege and success to be involved with the b-Cubed and SeaPerch projects at Benicia High School, says Dana Otterson, Strategic Resource Coordinator at RIX Industries. “RIX is grateful to be in a position to support such motivated youth in our community. It’s quite the inspiration to everyone working here. We could not participate in such charitable donations without the hard work from our employees.”

Dana Otterson and the RIX team first connected with Adriene Rockwell and Benicia High School in 2014, providing funding for the school’s SeaPerch project, an engineering endeavor sponsored by SeaPerch Build , which allows students to construct their own underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) that function somewhat like submarines. Benicia High’s SeaPerch project was designed to create hands-on learning opportunities and generate enthusiasm around STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) careers.

This year, RIX Industries is exited to partner with Benicia High School and b-Cubed to impact the lives of students by participating in another grant for the program.  RIX donated to Benicia High School’s Robots Invade Benicia High and World History Cold War Simulation projects. Dana Otterson and the rest of the RIX team happily report that they’ve already received a thank you card from participating Benicia High School students. Both project simulations are scheduled to take place at the high school in a few months.
